In this series I am going briefly through the "600" studies held on the GENERA database, published at Bifortified.org, in the order in which they were listed on 18 Sept 2013. The general purpose is to counter the extraordinary claims that the entries on this list demonstrate the human food safety of GM crops. See the Introduction to this series.
My Great Big List of Studies: Entry 3 – Aeschbacher et al 2002
The study was referenced as:
- "Aeschbacher, K., L. Meile, R. Messikommer and C. Wenk, 2002, Influence of genetically modified maize on performance and product quality of chickens. Proceedings of the Society of Nutrition Physiology, 11:196"
I haven't been able to locate this study online. A citation in Flachowsky et al 2005 was only to an abstract, viz screenprint…
The Flachowsky paper reported some of the same findings in regard to the fate of Bt GM corn DNA in production animals as that reported in the fulltext Aeschbacher et al 2005 study however, and I wonder if this was simply a preliminary abstact. The Aeschbacher et al 2005 study is discussed here.
Unless someone can present an abstract that reports different findings, I'm calling this a repeat entry.
