In this series I am going briefly through the "600" studies held on the GENERA database, published at Bifortified.org, in the order in which they were listed on 18 Sept 2013. The general purpose is to counter the extraordinary claims that the entries on this list demonstrate the human food safety of GM crops. See the Introduction to this series.
My Great Big List of Studies: Entry 4 – Aeschbacher et al 2002
The study was referenced as:
- "Aeschbacher, K., L. Meile, R. Messikommer and C. Wenk, 2002, Influence of genetically modified maize on performance and product quality of chickens. Proceedings of the Society of Nutritional Physiology, 11:196"
This reference is identical to that in Entry 3 above it (as previously discussed ), with the exception of an 'al' at the end of the word "Nutrition" in the reference.
So… There seems to be a double entry on the very first screen of the GENERA list and despite multiple references to this list am I the first person to pick this up?
Is anyone else actually reading this list, even the titles, or are the promoters of the list just saying HOW BIG IT IS??
See for yourself the screenprint taken from the GENERA list:
If Entry 4 actually represents a stand-alone study different to that at Entry 3 I'm happy to stand corrected. Please let me know. Otherwise, I'm saying GENERA has 597 studies rather than 600 (as the count is demonstrating, after review of just the first four entries - it should pick up).
